Likeness & Consent Policy

Version 2026-10-16 · Effective October 16, 2026

Brookwake can animate faces, sync lips to audio, and clone or change voices. Those tools must never be used on someone without their permission. This policy is part of the Terms of Service and the Acceptable Use Policy.

1. Using a face

Before you upload an image or video with a face for any avatar, lip-sync or edit feature, you must confirm:

"I am the person shown, or I have their explicit permission to use their likeness, and they are 18 or older."
  • Every upload with a face is checked. A face without this confirmation can't be used.
  • A face that appears to belong to a minor can't be used with any avatar, lip-sync, voice or edit feature, with or without a confirmation.
  • Never use someone's likeness in sexual, intimate or violent content, even with permission. Those are always blocked.

2. Using a voice

Before you upload a voice sample or change one voice into another, you must confirm:

"This is my voice, or I have the speaker's explicit permission."

To clone a voice, the permission must be in writing:

"This is my voice, or I have the speaker's explicit written permission."

Cloned voices stay private to your account. You can delete them at any time from Account → Voices.

3. What we record

Each confirmation is stored with the statement you agreed to and its version, the time, a one-way hash of your IP address and your browser's user agent. We keep these records to show that consent was given, and they are included in your data export.

4. Public figures and impersonation

Don't use a real person's face or voice, including a celebrity's or politician's, to deceive people, to make them appear to say or do something they didn't, for fraud or fake endorsements, or to mislead voters. When a prompt looks like it may use someone's likeness, the job is held and you must confirm you have permission before it continues.

5. Lipsync

Lipsync makes a person in a video appear to say new words, so it has two extra rules:

  • No public figures. Lipsync isn't available for recognised public figures, such as politicians, heads of state, public officials, celebrities and athletes. When our checks find one in the video, image, audio or script, the job is blocked and nothing is charged. There is no override, not even with permission.
  • A confirmation for every job. Before each Lipsync job you must confirm:
"I won't use this to make the person appear to say something they haven't agreed to."

This confirmation is recorded with each job, as described in section 3. The face confirmation in section 1 is still needed as well.

6. Non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII)

Creating or sharing intimate or sexual images or video of a real person without their consent is strictly prohibited, and sexual content of any kind is blocked on Brookwake. If you find NCII of yourself or someone you represent that was made or shared with Brookwake:

  • report it with the form below or the Report button on the share page;
  • we remove reported NCII within 48 hours of a valid request, revoke its share links, and act against the account, as required by the TAKE IT DOWN Act;
  • you don't need an account to report.

7. Reporting misuse of your likeness

If your face or voice was used without your permission, use the form below. Give us the share link of the content and a way to reach you. We review every report; reports about intimate images or minors are handled first.

If you don't have a share link, email {{SUPPORT_EMAIL}} with as much detail as you can.

What's wrong?

For example: "It uses my face without my permission."
